Results of interviews:

  • Mr. Mujtaba:

He said that we should make separate models for indoor and outdoor air pollution. He also suggested that he would like to have a sensor capable of measuring Carbon Monoxide and Particulate Matter(PM2.5). As a subject specialist, He was against going for modelling of a sensor and advised the team to go for low cost environment sensors.

  • Dr Irfan Ahmed Sheikh:

He was really concerned about the concentration of PM2.5 in Lahore and urged that getting widespread statistics about this pollutants would be very helpful.

  • Ms. Durr-e-Shewar:

She was the only one who pointed out that as a researcher she would need the sensors to be compatible with the international standards. There are 1 hour , 8 hour and 24 hour standards. According to her, even if the sensor is to be mobile the data should be collected when the sensor is stationary for a considerable amount of time.

Concepts Finalizing:

  • A AC powered stationary sensor with the data to be uploaded on a web portal and (later) on an app.

  • A car battery powered mobile sensor with the data to be uploaded on a web portal and (later) on an app.

The type of the sensor will depend on the type of data required. For example, if a data is required for a day or so in a specific area, a stationary sensor can be positioned for a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 24 hours for data gathering. On the other hand, if the data is required for a longer period of time and for various areas, a mobile sensor can be used.
